It's a SNAP to spay or neuter!

NEW SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM CHANGES
EFFECTIVE
JANUARY 1, 2006
Why has the program changed?

bulletCoupon demands have risen to where nearly half of our funding is going outside the Municipality of Anchorage
bulletThe euthanasia rate is rising at Anchorage Animal Care & Control
bulletPet owners who truly need financial assistance are our first priority

FOP's mission focus is the Anchorage area, and in particular, FOP was founded to help save the animals at Anchorage Animal Care & Control through rescue/adoption, education, and spay/neuter efforts. With limited funding, these program changes are necessary for us to make a strong positive impact to help local pets and their families in need.

Thank you for demonstrating responsible pet ownership by deciding to have your pet spayed or neutered!

The Friends of Pets Spay / Neuter Assistance Program seeks to reduce the number of homeless and unwanted pets, by helping pet owners in the Anchorage area who cannot otherwise afford spay/neuter services. The coupon provides $40 off the cost of a spay or neuter surgery at any veterinary clinic in Alaska , provided the owner and pet live in the Municipality of Anchorage . Some clinics bill FOP directly, while others require that you pay at the time of surgery. If you pay the clinic yourself, FOP will reimburse you.

How to apply for a spay/neuter coupon:

Complete this request form (it's a PDF form - click here if you need
a plain text version instead)
and send it along
with a self-addressed stamped envelope
to:

Friends of Pets
P.O. Box 240981
Anchorage, AK  99524

Ask us for a price list if you need one.

How to redeem your spay/neuter coupon:
(these directions are on the coupon too)

1. You must have your coupon in hand prior to surgery.

2. To help community donations go further, this coupon cannot be used with any other coupons or offers, except those promotional discounts made by veterinarians or veterinary clinics. The amount of the coupon cannot exceed the actual cost of surgery.

3. Contact your clinic to see whether they will bill Friends of Pets, or if you need to request reimbursement.
    a. If the clinic bills FOP, simply present your coupon to
the clinic on the day of surgery.
    b. If you request reimbursement from FOP instead, send
your coupon and a copy of your itemized bill (not a
receipt, not a certificate of sterilization) to Friends of Pets,
P.O. Box 240981, Anchorage, AK 99524. Your request
must be postmarked on or before the expiration date of
        the coupon.

4. Limit one coupon per surgery.

5. Expired coupons will not be honored.

6. Copied coupons are not valid. (Copied invoices are okay.)

7. Cat owners: This coupon may not be used in conjunction
with declaw surgery. (Did you know that declawing is
actually an amputation? Please, call us for alternatives and
    for training info that works.
Click here for a copy of our "Save the Sofa" brochure.

8. A reimbursement check will be mailed to you within 2-3 weeks.

9. In order for our program to help as many people as possible, coupons are limited to five (5) per household per calendar year.

Thank you for being part of the solution
to pet overpopulation!
